New Fridge!

On Sunday we had our new fridge delivered. It just fit the space in our kitchen so am i ever glad that i double checked our measurements! It has an ice-maker. I've never owned a fridge with an ice-maker before. I really don't have that many things that need ice in them. It is much larger than our old fridge and much, much quieter. Ulala and i were very excited about our new fridge. We went straight out and bought some groceries because now we have somewhere to put them! I'm told this is what passes for excitement in Married Life.

Mash-Up Da Place!

These should more or less blow your mind. And if that doesn't then how's this: I found these through Justin Timberlake's site. Weird.

July 20 - Ocean Day

Happy Ocean Day!
Or alternatively, "Marine Day."

What did i do today?
I ate seafood of course!
And snails.
Not sure if they were sea-snails or not but they certainly were delicious!

Tottsuan

Our friend Emi invited us to a great seafood restaurant, called Tottsuan (とっつあん), in Kyobashi on Sunday night. The food was reasonably priced, fresh and incredibly good! A very casual, neighborhood spot with cheap tables and stools and posters covering the walls. The staff on the second floor yell the orders down to the first floor through a length of old pipe insulating tube. The menu is made up everyday based on what was fresh from the fish market that morning. We ate dish after dish of delicious tempura and other seafood.

Salad with little fried fish

You can't really tell in this picture but these were the size a child's fist!

Raw squid that was perfectly tender and not too chewy

Soup with "hamaguri" shell fish (quahaug clam) - the broth was amazing.

This looks like a giant fgreen slug but it is actually a delicious giant green "shishito" pepper.

Giant fried shrimp!
