Better late than never

Thinking i had somehow emotionally scarred my Danish Cactus into never blooming again, i was pleasantly surprised to find some bright pink buds the other day that have since grown and burst. The tag that came with the plant said "Danish Cactus" but i grew up calling it a "Christmas Cactus" because we had one at home and it always bloomed around Christmastime (theoretically - it was often off by a week or more). Well that was Canada and this is Japan and the weather is a bit different, so i suppose it makes sense that it would bloom much later. We had a massive one by the bay window in our dining room in Toronto. For reasons unknown, it was always one of my favorite plants. In the haze of memory it seems like that plant was around the whole time i was growing up and the one i have here in Osaka reminds me of home.

Chinese New Year Cactus?

Symian is: thinking the plant needs to adjust its calendar - naw, the plant probably knows best.
